Meridian Exhibition Centre

The Meridian Exhibition Centre is located at 1045 Grandeur Avenue. Our hope is that the MEC is a place where our community and visitors can thrive, grow, and succeed. The centre was designed to be a gathering place for families, communities, organizations and corporations. You ALL belong here!

    • Helmets strongly encouraged.

    • Program participants 11 & under must be supervised for duration of program by an adult.

    • Running is not permitted on the D.A. Loewen Walking Track or throughout the facility.

    • Clean athletic shoes only in the Bernhard Thiessen Field House. Socks, bare feet, outdoor shoes, metal cleats prohibited.

    • City of Winkler is not liable for accident/injury. Participate at your own risk.

    • City of Winkler is not liable for lost or stolen items.

    • Elevator is reserved for accessible access to the second floor. Unnecessary use of the elevator will not be permitted.

  • The User shall adhere to the following:

    1. Respect for Others: All visitors are expected to treat other guests, user groups and staff with respect and courtesy. Harassment, discrimination, or any form of abusive behavior will not be tolerated.

    2. Facility Usage: Please use the facilities and equipment responsibly. Any damage caused by misuse may result in penalties or repair costs.  Be respectful of events and facility use in progress.  Do not trespass in authorized personnel spaces (I.e. Staff room, Custodial Closet, etc.).

    3. Cleanliness: Help us maintain a clean environment by disposing of trash & recycle items in designated bins and keeping the facilities tidy.

    4. Sunflower Seeds:  Sunflower seeds are prohibited within indoor facilities to maintain cleanliness and hygiene.

    5. Safety Regulations: Follow all posted safety instructions and guidelines. In case of an emergency, please call 911.  Please note any foul play to staff.  Security cameras are monitored throughout the facility & recreation grounds. 

    6. Supervision of Children: Children under the age of 12 must be always supervised by an adult.

    7. Prohibited Items: The following items are not allowed within the premises: weapons, illegal substances, and any items that could pose a safety risk. 

    8. Smoking, Vaping, Chewing Tobacco, Marijuana, Alcohol:  Smoking, vaping, chewing tobacco and marijuana are prohibited inside the facility.  Please utilize designated smoking areas outside and adhere to all relevant regulations under the Liquor, Gaming, & Cannabis Authority of Manitoba.

    9. Alcohol:  Alcohol is prohibited at the Meridian Exhibition Centre & Recreation facilities.  Exceptions apply to approved Events, under the facility licence & private permit.

    10. Scooters, Skateboards, and Bikes:  Scooters, skateboards, and bikes (electronic or manual) are not permitted in the facility.  Please use designated areas outside for these activities.

    11. Service Animals:  Only service animals are permitted within the facility.  Please ensure they are always properly identified and under control.

    12. Lost and Found: Report any lost or found items to the front desk. We will do our best to assist you in recovering lost belongings.

    13. Event Conduct: During events, please follow the specific guidelines provided by event organizers. Disruptive behavior may result in removal from the event.

    14. Locker Usage: Overnight storage in lockers is prohibited. Please remove all belongings from lockers and return keys to the Community Services Administration desk.

    15. Loitering: Loitering in facility vestibules, restrooms, dressing rooms, and common spaces is not permitted.  Overnight occupancy is prohibited.

    16. Solicitation:  Solicitation of any kind is prohibited in the Meridian Exhibition Centre & Recreation Facilities.

    17. Parking Regulations: Please Park in designated areas only. Unauthorized vehicles parked in restricted areas may be towed at the owner’s expense. Ensure that you follow all posted parking signs and regulations.

    18. Photography and Social Media Usage: Photography is allowed in most areas of the facility, but please be respectful of others’ privacy. Do not take photos or videos in restrooms, dressing rooms, or other private areas. When sharing on social media, please tag our official accounts and use appropriate hashtags. Ensure that your posts reflect the positive and respectful atmosphere of our facility.

Bernhard Thiessen Hall & Fieldhouse

Soccer, ultimate frisbee, disc golf and other outdoor sports are no longer confined to the summer! The 19,000 square foot space can be converted into an event hall, perfect for trade shows, banquets, weddings, markets and more. Large windows on two sides let in plenty of natural light.

    • Indoor turf with lines for multiple sports

    • 4 dressing rooms

    • Bleachers on the 2nd floor, overlooking the fieldhouse, seating 180

    • Hard floor surface covering the existing fieldhouse turf

    • 4 dressing rooms just off the hard floor space

Icon Arena

The Icon Arena is bright and well lit, boasting 21,600 square feet of space and a fully accessible NHL sized ice sheet.

  • Bleachers on the 2nd floor seating nearly 400

  • Nearby RCU Concession for drinks and snacks.

D.A. Loewen Walking Track

The walking track is a 380 foot (115 meter) track that loops around the 2nd floor of the Meridian Exhibition Centre, overlooking the fieldhouse and the arena. Washrooms are located right near the track and lockers are available to store personal belongings during your time on the track.

The walking track is FREE of charge to use. Please be respectful and follow track etiquette.

  • View Direction Sign on location for current walking direction.

    • Strollers & Pull Wagons Welcome

    • No Team Warm-ups or Dryland Training

    • Follow Directional Signage

    • Keep Right, Pass Left

    • No Standing or Congregating on Track

Meeting Rooms & Playroom

The MEC features two meeting rooms and a playroom that are available for rent for your upcoming event.

  • This fun and vibrant space will be sure to entertain children for hours of fun! It is the perfect place to host a birthday party or wind-up, with room for 10-15 people! The playroom is located on the main floor in the heart of the building.

    • 260 square feet of play space

    • A full glass wall overlooking the fieldhouse

    • Bright and open space

    • Playroom is also available to rent for parties

  • this meeting space boasts a beautiful board table, executive chairs, large glass whiteboard and more! Enjoy the lounge seating that overlooks the entire fieldhouse with oversized windows and plenty of natural light.

    • Large board table and 14 executive meeting chairs

    • Large TV

    • Blue tooth conference speaker

    • Full sized glass wall overlooking the fieldhouse

  • This meeting room is a bright, open space for your small meeting or function. It is located on the second floor and is connected to a seating corner overlooking the ice.

    Features:

    • 296 square feet of space

    • Capacity for up to 40 people

    • Whiteboard

    • Flip top tables and chairs

    • Option to add a TV or projector to your rental fee

    • Large windows with plenty of natural light
